Princess Rosalinda (Demi Lovato) is about to get crowned as queen of her little island Costa Luna but unfortunately General Kane (Johnny Ray Rodriguez) of neighboring country invades in attempt to take over the royal family but she is being saved by an agent Joe Mason (Tom Verica) working for top secret agency ‘Princess Protection Program’ funded by royal families for their protection. The special agent takes Princess Rosalinda to his own home for her safety until the circumstances get better. Now, princess has to live with a common American teenager who is Joe’s daughter, Carter (Selena Gomez). Now, the princess has to live undercover as an ordinary American teenage with a new identity. She is now named as Rosie. Soon both the girls turn out to be best friends and comprehend the importance of loyal and true friendship. But the story doesn’t end here. People of Costa Luna are waiting for their true queen to save them for dictator. Will Rosalinda be able to get back to her people and land before General Kane takes over her kingdom?
This is a classical princess Disney story with charismatic tale that stars not only one but two stunning heroines at the same time (Selena and Demi). Both have carried their character very well. They have complemented each other so well that it gets difficult to judge who did better on screen. Both have played their own roles very well. Selena is a spoiled brat or more likely an insecure tom boy. And Demi is a very courteous princess who teaches Carter how to win the hearts of people. Once again I am convinced to say that they both have done justice with their roles
The best thing about this movie is that it is not a typical romantic fairy tale of princesses. Instead it is a modern fairy tale for teenage girls empowering positive messages about integrity, self-confidence, true friendship and the value of inner beauty which are the key to happiness
In fact, it is a sweet Disney princess which has a worry free content and teaches teenagers how to get through the difficult phases of their teenage life while sticking to good old norms which are disappearing with modernaization. It is a good watch for your kids.
