On February 18, 1952, a big and massive storm hits the Eastern coast and tears the SS Pendleton a T-2 oil tanker bound for Boston into two halves, including more than 30 sailors on the board. The senior officer on board, engineer Ray Sybert soon realizes and bravely takes a step to organize and lead a plan for his frightened crew and survivors, and motivates his men to work together to survive the worst storm ever that has hit the Eastern Coast. Meanwhile, the disaster arrives at the U.S Coast Guard station in Chatham, Massachusetts; Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Cluff commands a daring operation and mission to rescue the trapped men. Despite the cruel weather, Coast Guard Captain Bernie Webber gets four men on the lifeboat to save the crew against the impossible odds.
The movie The Finest Hours based on a true story and reminds us of a courageous rescue attempt at sea. “The Finest Hours” is a classic tale of good old-fashioned heroism. This is a big budget movie from Disney Production. When you see the trailer, then you know exactly what you are in for, besides all impossible odds and rescue attempts bigger than your life. In this movie, you are going to see wildest open sea disaster scenes and storms which keep you on the edge of your seats. All sea disaster scenes and storms reminded you of ‘’Titanic”. It’s all about CGI and special effects yet it looks so realistic. The good thing about this movie is that it is released in both 2D and 3D. The cinematography reflects in 50’s era, which is awesome.
The slightest unsuccessful story is a romance between Pine’s character and the local girl who somehow manages to have enough money to get a car on a switchboard, walks through snowdrifts in high heels, embarrasses her boyfriend by proposing him for marriage. Like what is with the million shots of the concerned girlfriend? Does anyone actually care about this character? Is this movie trying to be Titanic?
This film starts with slow and unrelated to the story but later on you are going to enjoy this movie. The fact that it is based on the true event does give it plus. The breaking of the ship into two halves is just Wow. It is so intense. Go for this movie as it is certainly a worth watching.
