The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a comedy adventure film about Walter Mitty, an employee in Life magazine that has a job about developing photos for the publication. Sometimes to escape from his life, he daydreams about heroism, romance and fiction thoughts that he desires. When the company got into a new management, Walter and his co-worker are threatened due to the downsizing of the employees. The real adventure came when the negative #25 went missing, which they believe the perfect photo that captures “quintessence” of life and should be used as the Life Magazine’s final print issue. They used other negatives from Sean O’Connell, a photojournalist where the images came from, to locate him. The three negatives that they used as clues are a picture of a person’s thumb with a unique ring on it, a picture of a curved piece of wood and the third photo with a picture of a boat. In search for the negative #25, Walter went into an adventure that he could have never imagined.
This film is full of adventure from the fiction world of Walter Mitty and his real world. In between his daily living, his daydreams pops out and some of his thoughts are really entertaining like the impossible ones. It do have some rough edges but of what is good about this film is that it teach you a lesson like the quote used in it, “ To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.” It will make you realize that dreaming is good for yourself, like you should dream with no limits but dreaming itself is not just enough. You need to take action and move in order to fulfill these things that you wanted. In order to get the results you should work hard to able to get it and that’s what this movie made us realize. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a truly inspirational film made for dreamers and for those who needs to push themselves off the limits.
